Warren-Carpenter Picnic 1950s

I don't know of any photos that exist of this day (we don't have them).  But we have video.  Here is a screen grab of Grandpa Dan to get your attention...




This is a clip from home movies Cindy's mom gave her.  There weren't many and the joke is that for most of the footage, people's heads were cut off.  This clip fared a little better.  I've put the video on YouTube...

Carpenter/Patton Family Tree


My best effort based on research from Ancestry.com, Findagrave.com, Newspapers.com and anything else I could find.




CARPENTER (BEN)
William B. Carpenter married America Jane Bradly on Jan 16, 1875 in Elliot County, KY.
William was born Nov 21, 1857 and died Oct 19, 1924.  He is buried in Byers Cemetery, Elkhart, IA.
"Jane" Carpenter was born Sept 28, 1855 and died Feb 25, 1933.  She is buried in Byers Cemetery.
William's mother was Henrietta Carpenter born Jan 29, 1832 and died Jan 23, 1904.  Also buried in Byers Cemetery.


William and Jane had (5) children:
> George V. Carpenter  Unknown to 1877.  Buried in Limestone Cemetery, Olive Hill, KY.
> Winfield C. Carpenter 1880 to 1942.  Buried in Byers Cemetery, Elkhart, IA.
> Lafe Carpenter  1886 to 1927.  Buried in Byers Cemetery, Elkhart, IA.
> Ben Harrison Carpenter  1890 to 1968.  Buried in Byers Cemetery, Elkhart, IA.
> Bertha E. Carpenter Cline 1896 to 1972. Buried in Byers Cemetery, Elkhart, IA.
   (Married Clint Cline June 29, 1917 in DM)


PATTON/Carpenter (BETTY)
(Harvey Jackson) Jack (Jackson) Patton married Martha (Martha Ann Stone) Patton.
Jack was born in 1871 and died in 1953. Martha lived from 1878 to 1964.  Both are buried in Limestone Cemetery, Olive Hill, KY.
Jack and Martha had (6) children ("five that grew" according to a newspaper article):
> Betty Patton Carpenter 1899 to 1975. Born in Lawton, KY. Birth certificate has "Bettie" and is even signed that way.  She was the oldest.
> Lillian "Lillie" or "Lil" Patton (Engle) (2nd born). She was widowed and lived with Grandma Patton in Lawton.  Lillian lived from Nov 16, 1903 to March 9, 1968 and is buried in Limeston Cemetery, Olive Hill, KY (Carter County).
> Loney, a son, died in infancy.  No grave that I can find.
> Jessie (Flannery) lived in Warren, OH (have a picture of her).  Not finding a headstone yet.
> Clyde, son, killed in service WWII
> Opal M. (Kirby), youngest. Lived in and buried in Springfield, OH. Rose Hill Burial Park.


Ben and Betty had (4) children:
> Melba (Jeri)
> Vernon J.
> Vera May (Vee)
> Ruth Jean (later "Jeanne")
